Apple Recalls 15-Inch MacBook Pro Laptop Computers Due to Fire Hazard

This recall involves certain Apple 15-inch MacBook Pro laptop computers. The recalled laptop computers have a 15.4-inch (diagonal) display, 2.2-2.5 GHz processors, 256GB-1TB solid-state storage, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, two USB 3 ports, and one HDMI port. Consumers can determine if their laptop computer is included in this recall by checking the laptop's serial number at https://support.apple.com/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall/. The serial number can be found on the underside of the laptop computer or by choosing "About This Mac" from the Apple menu. Only MacBook Pro 15-inch model laptop computers with certain serial numbers are included. Hazard: The batteries in the recalled laptop computers can overheat, posing a fire hazard. Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled laptop computers. Contact Apple to determine if the laptop computer is a part of the recall and to schedule a free repair.

Waupaca Elevator Recalls to Inspect Elevators Due to Injury Hazard

This recall involves residential elevator models Custom Lift 450# and Custom Lift 500#, shipped and installed between 1979 and 2008. The recalled elevators are used in consumers' homes. The Custom Lift 450# elevators have serial numbers 10-1001 through 10-3131. The Custom Lift 500# elevators have serial numbers 10-3132 through 10-8111; 010-00-8112 through 010-10-8786; and 110-00-1000 through 110-03-1179. The serial number can be found on the front or bottom of the controller box or on the base of the powerhead. The powerhead can be located in the attic, closet, machine room, crawl space, garage, or the bottom of the hoistway. Hazard: The elevator cab can fall unexpectedly to the bottom of the elevator shaft and abruptly stop, posing an injury hazard to consumers in the elevator cab. Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled elevators and contact Waupaca Elevator to schedule a free gearbox inspection and the installation of a free overspeed braking device. Waupaca Elevator also will provide the installation of a free gearbox if the gearbox inspection reveals that the gears in the gearbox have worn down.

The batteries, which contain cells manufactured during the last week of December 2003 only, have the model number A1045 and serial numbers that begin with HQ404, HQ405, HQ406, HQ407, or HQ408. The model and serial numbers can be found on a label on the bottom of the battery. The battery is approximately 4 inches long, 3 inches wide, and ¾ inches tall. These AC adapters could overheat, posing a fire hazard.Apple received six reports of these adapters overheating. The recall includes only AC adapters with a two-pin connector that came with Apple Macintosh PowerBooks or that were sold separately. APRIL 7, 1994 Release # 94-056 PRODUCT: About 200,000 disposable "tractor trailer" novelty cigarette lighters imported by GOLDEN APPLE XXCO. The lighters sold at convenience stores nationwide from December 1993 through March 1994. The lighters are tractor trailer-shaped with five pairs of tiny wheels on one edge. One side has one of three tractor trailer pictures: "American Spirit" shows a red tractor trailer together with the head of an eagle; "Truck Country" shows a tractor trailer together with a flag of the United States; and "Midnight Rider" shows a tractor trailer in front of a full moon. The flue of the lighter is engraved with an apple figure and the word "apple." A caution sticker on the back states "Made in Philippines." PROBLEM: The tractor trailer-shaped lighters are very attractive to children who could easily mistake them for toys. If a child plays with the lighter, a fire and/or serious burn injuries may result.
