TL;DR: The Quick Fixes
Toggle Bluetooth off and back on. Forget the device (Settings → Connected devices → tap the gear → Forget), then re-pair. Restart your Pixel. Clear Bluetooth cache: Settings → Apps → Show system apps → Bluetooth → Clear cache. Check if the accessory needs a firmware update. For car Bluetooth, try setting AVRCP to version 1.4 in Developer options.
Step 1: Forget and Re-pair the Device
The classic fix that works 70% of the time. Go to Settings → Connected devices. Tap the gear icon next to the problematic device. Tap "Forget" to remove it. Now put your accessory back into pairing mode and reconnect fresh. This clears any corrupted pairing data. If it's a car, you might need to delete the phone from the car's Bluetooth menu too, then pair from scratch.
Step 2: Clear Bluetooth App Cache
Go to Settings → Apps → See all apps. Tap the three dots → "Show system apps." Find "Bluetooth" in the list and tap it. Go to Storage & cache → Clear cache. Restart your phone afterward. This resets the Bluetooth system without losing your paired devices. Fixes weird issues like audio cutting out randomly or connections dropping after a few minutes.
Step 3: Force Restart Your Pixel
Press and hold Power + Volume Up for 10-15 seconds until your Pixel restarts. This clears any stuck processes. For persistent Bluetooth issues that started after an update, a restart often kicks things back into working order. If issues only happen with one specific device, the problem might be on that device's end—try restarting it too.
Fix for Car Bluetooth Issues (AVRCP)
Car Bluetooth is notoriously finicky with Pixels. If you have audio skipping, metadata not showing, or constant disconnects in your car, try this: Enable Developer options (Settings → About phone → tap Build number 7 times). Go to Settings → System → Developer options. Search for "AVRCP" and set it to version 1.4 (or try 1.3). This changes how your phone communicates with the car's audio system. Many Pixel 6/7/8 users report this fixes car Bluetooth issues.
Nuclear Option: Reset Network Settings
If nothing else works, reset all network settings. Go to Settings → System → Reset options → Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. This erases all saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings—you'll need to set everything up again. But it clears deep configuration issues that survive cache clears and restarts.
