TL;DR: LG Phones Are Discontinued—But Support Continues

LG shut down its mobile phone business in July 2021. They've committed to software updates through 2023-2024 and repair support through 2025 for most models. For existing recalls, check lg.com/us/support. Note: LG appliances (refrigerators, washers) are NOT covered by RecallRadar—we focus on phones, tablets, laptops, and wearables. LG Phone Support Status

Even though LG exited mobile, they're still supporting existing devices: (1) Software updates continued through late 2023 for recent models. (2) Hardware repairs available through 2025 at authorized service centers. (3) Existing warranty claims still honored. If you have an LG phone (V60, Velvet, Wing, etc.) with a defect, you may still be able to get it repaired—don't assume LG won't help.

Known LG Phone Issues

Bootloop issues: LG G4, G5, V10, V20, and Nexus 5X were notorious for bootloop problems (phone gets stuck restarting). LG extended warranties and offered repairs/replacements for many affected units. Screen retention/burn-in: Some OLED models had image retention. Battery degradation: Standard across older phones. Most of these issues are now past repair program windows, but it doesn't hurt to contact LG Support if you're experiencing problems. Not sure if YOUR device is affected? How to Check for LG Phone Recalls

Visit lg.com/us/support, select "Mobile" category, and search for your model. LG's recall information is scattered across support articles rather than a dedicated recall page. Alternative: Search CPSC.gov for "LG" to see all CPSC-registered recalls. For IMEI-specific checks, call LG Support at 1-800-243-0000 and ask them to look up your device.

A Note on LG Appliances

LG makes refrigerators, washers, dryers, air conditioners, and other appliances that have their own recalls. These are NOT covered by RecallRadar—our focus is personal electronics (phones, tablets, laptops, wearables). For LG appliance recalls, check lg.com/us/support or cpsc.gov directly. The most notable was the LG refrigerator compressor issue affecting certain French door models. New programs from Apple, Samsung, and Google launch without warning. Set up alerts for your devices →
